Week Eighteen: Synthpop - De/Vision - "Your Hands On My Skin" - Zehn

In the late 90s and early 2000s, there was a massive neo-Synthpop movement that was in full force in the Dallas area.  In fact, The Wall, which was a club near the 7-11 at Elm and Good Latimer in Deep Ellum, hosted a Synthpop night on Wednesdays.

Even The Church at the Lizard Lounge, which primarily markets itself as a goth club, began to incorporate more and more of the Synthpop sound into its mix.

It was virtually impossible to locate any CDs for Synthpop bands in local music shops; therefore, most of the music had to be acquired through online orders from Metropolis Records.  Every once in a blue moon, I was able to acquire a few gems from the Tower Records in Oaklawn, but it wasn't too often that this happened.

Zehn was actually one of the CDs that I did have to order from Metropolis, and it cost me a pretty penny.  However, it was well worth the money and the wait just to have this song alone.  In fact, this was yet another cover we performed in the band in which I played.

De/Vision has some lovely tunes in addition to this one, and I will hopefully be able to revisit more of their music in later posts.  If I don't, you owe it to yourself to check out the rest of the album online.  Just in case, I'm also going to include a youtube clip for my other favorite De/Vision song, "Try to Forget", below the lyrics.

03/15/2015 - This is another on that keeps being removed from YouTube; so I will keep updating as I find new versions...

Only you know my perverted dreams
You know what I feel
You know what I really want
You are the only one
I could prefer to touch you now
But I only want to know
One thing at this point
Please tell me
Why I belong to you
When I cry
When I cry
For your hands on my skin

Save the only thing you can
Tell me what it is
Don't try to hide the perfect mess
Of your strange behaviour

Please tell me...
