Week Twenty-Two: Movie Melodies - Modern English - "I Melt With You" - Valley Girl Soundtrack

This song definitely reminds me of the final prom scene from Valley Girl, where Randy and Julie ride off in the stretch limousine. This song was also on MTV back when my family first got cable. I was always a little confused by the ballroom-style dancers in the video. I was even more confused by the blondish-white haired guitar player. It looked to me like a female with a thinly drawn moustache on its face. I was a little child of 7 years at that time, so the judgments were more fitting.

I'm not sure how many mixed tapes this song made it onto in the course of my existence, but if you were to ever request an 80s mixed tape from me, you were guaranteed to have this song on it. 

I was also a little perplexed and angered when this tune started appearing in some ridiculous TV commercials, but since it renewed peoples' interest in this song and band, I suppose that I only grumbled slightly when I heard it on television for the millionth time alongside a cheeseburger. :-(
