Week Nine: The Psychedelic Furs - "Until She Comes" - World Outside

I have to confess that I believe that this is, hands down, one of the loveliest songs written by The Furs.  I read somewhere, I believe on wikipedia, that it is a "metaphorical story of addiction".  Although I can definitely see that in the lyrics, to me, it is a just an intense love song, and it sends chill bumps down my arms when I hear it.

I really don't think that this song received the recognition and appreciation that it truly deserved.  It shows a more mature side of The Furs, definitely, and does not have the same uptempo dance beats as their earlier material.  Regardless, I have longed to find another soul that adores this song and feels that it speaks volumes to them the way it does to me.

The accompanying video is also visually gorgeous, and it has a squeeze box (aka - an accordion).  Squeeze boxes remind me of my grandfather, who passed away at the beginning of this year, but they're still awesome!!!

Until she comes again

I can hear the things she said

I feel no thoughts to move my head

Until she comes again

And with her step, I move my feet

And with her hand, I feel my skin

And with her need, I find I'm saved

And with her dreams, I'm laid

Until she comes again

The sun goes out and night comes in

The time goes round and day grows dim

Until she comes again

And with her step, I move my feet

And with her hand, I feel my skin

And with her need, I find I'm saved

And with her dreams, I'm laid

Until she comes

Until she comes

Until she comes again

With all my savings and my sins

There's no good reason to begin

Until she comes again

And with her step, I move my feet

And with her hand, I feel my skin

And with her need, I find I'm saved

And with her dreams, I'm laid

Until she comes

Until she comes

Until she comes again

With all her dreams tied in her hand

There is no why to understand

Until she comes again

Until she comes again

The sun goes out and night comes in

The time goes round

And day grows dim

Until she comes again
