Week Twenty-Six: Spooky Tunes - Front 242 - "Headhunter" - Front By Front

In honor of All Hallow's Eve, better known as Halloween, Week Twenty-Six
will be full of Spooky Tunes
<@><@><@><@><@><@><@><@><@>

I can honestly say with 100% certainty that I have never been to a goth/industrial/ebm night where this song was not played - it would be like a mortal sin for a DJ not to play it!!  If you have ever seen the video, it is so bizarre and centered around, of all things... eggs.  Curiosity got the best of me, and I sought an explanation.

First of all, I was not aware that Anton Corbijn, who is closely associated with many of the Depeche Mode videos, was the one who directed it.  There is actually a hilarious story behind the eggs:

"Headhunter" was released in 1988 on the album Front By Front, in two versions (Version 1.0 and Version 3.0). Version 1.0 was then released as a single, with Version 2.0 as one of the b-sides. Version 2.0 was accompanied by a music video directed by Anton Corbijn. It depicted the bandmembers in an urban landscape of Brussels, including the Berlaymont building and the Atomium that had been built for the 1958 World's Fair,[1] and used eggs as a visual theme. According to bandmember Patrick Codenys this was because Corbijn accidentally heard that the song title was "Egg Hunter".

I have also included my other favorite Front 242 video, "Quite Unusual", below the lyrics, as well as a culmination of Spooky Tunes week called "Out of Control" by New Scene that includes a snippet of Front 242.  It was also sent to me by the same DJ who so kindly refreshed me on The Gruesome Twosome hit.

FREEZE! SHOOT TO KILL OR DIE
Today he has no means, he's alone and anonymous
But written in his cells he has got the marks of the genius
I'm looking for this man to sell him to other men
To sell him to other men at ten times the price at least
I'm looking for this man who knows the rules of the game
Who's able to forget them to realize my aim
I'm looking for this man to make us rich and famous

One - You lock the target
Two - You bait the line
Three- You slowly spread the net
And four - You catch the man
