Week Twenty-Nine marks the fifteenth anniversary of my first, and only, time to see Jane's Addiction in concert at the Fair Park Coliseum on November 18, 1997 - sorry it's so difficult to see the ticket stub; it faded like crazy... I am also going throw in some Porno for Pyros this week since that was one of Perry's other noble efforts:

I think that this tune was actually my introduction to Jane's Addiction. The video for it was in very heavy rotation on MTV, especially around the time of the first Lollapalooza, and it was actually directed by Casey Niccoli.
In fact, Casey won an MTV Video Music Award for Best Alternative Video in 1991 for directing it, but there is a super-juicy story behind that whole debacle that occurred at the acceptance. Apparently, Perry knew that Casey had an excellent chance of winning, but instead of going to support her in her acceptance, he decided to stay home, do drugs, and have sex with another girl.
Dave Navarro accompanied Casey to the award show, and they spent most of their evening at the hotel bar getting drunk. Casey did win, and Dave went up with her to accept the award. Then he leaned in to kiss her there on live TV. Some people claim that Perry was watching from home and saw it and vowed to get revenge on Dave; others claim that Perry was so over Casey that he couldn't have cared less about what happened even if he had seen it. Some say that he didn't even bother to watch.
I'm not sure what the definitive answer is, but I do know that it sucks that Perry's ego prevented him from being there in support of Casey. I'm happy she still decided to go, and I'm even happier that she won because it is an entertaining video!!
