Week Twenty-Nine: Jane's Addiction - "Mountain Song" - Nothing's Shocking

Week Twenty-Nine marks the fifteenth anniversary of my first, and only, time to see Jane's Addiction in concert at the Fair Park Coliseum on November 18, 1997 - sorry it's so difficult to see the ticket stub; it faded like crazy... I am also going throw in some Porno for Pyros this week since that was one of Perry's other noble efforts:

I know that lots of Jane's Addiction fans absolutely love this song, but I had to let this one grow on me. In fact, it wasn't until I had watched Soul Kiss (which I acquired from none other than Bill's Records & Tapes) that I really began to like it. If you have never seen Soul Kiss, then I'll offer you a clip of Perry & Casey shooting off a bottle rocket in their bedroom. I will never understand their fascination with having pet hens and roosters in the house though. Just watch, and you will understand what I mean:

Nothing's Shocking was released in 1988. "Mountain Song" was released as a single; however, MTV refused to air the song's music video due to a scene containing nudity. Farrell then decided to release the music video commercially; twenty minutes of live footage was added to create the Soul Kiss home video.
