Week Sixty-Seven: Boys Soundtrack - Cast - "Alright" - Soundtrack

So back in 1996, Winona Ryder co-starred with Lukas Haas in the film, Boys. The film was completely underwhelming, but the soundtrack was phenomenal; so I am going to cover four of the tracks from the soundtrack over the course of this week!!!

As I have already mentioned, back in the mid-to-late-90's, the Inwood Theater in Dallas was the best location to catch Indie films. When I saw the preview for this film, Boys, I could hardly wait until it hit the theater. Sadly, though, even after reviewing the plot summary on Wikipedia, I can still barely recall even the faintest detail from the movie. It was such a slow-paced film, and it seemed to drag on and on and on and on and on and on and on (get my point???)

I don't remember it being as completely wretched as most of the reviews it received... I mean, I didn't get up and walk out or anything, but the only redeeming factor of the film was its soundtrack.

I had never heard of Cast before viewing this film, but once I heard this song, I was immediately at one of my local music stores looking for this track. The only way that I could acquire it at that time, for whatever reason, was by purchasing the soundtrack for the film, but there were so many little treasures on this very soundtrack that it wasn't a problem at all!!!

And since John Power, one of the members of Cast, was originally in The La's and since I love their song, "There She Goes", I'm including that one for you today too...

[Verse 1:]
I guess I'm alright, guess I'm alright.
I guess I'm doing fine, guess I doing fine.
Do y' think I miss you, Do y' think I care?
Do y' think I'd lay down and die?

[Chorus 1:]
You never even tried...,
You never even tried...,

[Verse 2:]
Now it's about time, it's the right time.
If you willed your mind, if you willed your mind.
So fly on swift now, on your journey home.
And you fled the nest now and you have flown.

[Chorus 2:]
Ain't nothing you don't know...,
Ain't nothing you don't know...,

[Bridge:]
Look out to sea..., and tell me what we came here for (GLASTONBURY)
Is it what they say or is it more than we can know,

And if so.... Which way am I to go... - Which way am I to go...

[Verse 3:]
I guess I'm alright, guess I'm alright
I guess I'm doing fine, guess I'm doing fine
Can't see no reasons - for not pushing through
So make like the wind, that's blowing through

[Chorus 3:]
Ain't nothing you can do....
Ain't nothing you can do....
