Week Sixty-Eight: Curve - "Horror Head" - Doppelganger

This week, I am going to cover songs by the bands, Curve and The Dandy Warhols, both of whom I saw play live at The Galaxy Club back in July of 1998

What I recall most about the band, Curve, is that the guy with whom I had my very first serious relationship was very much in love Toni Halliday, the lead singer. I met this guy when I was 17-years-old out at The Church at The Lizard Lounge. If you recall from some of my earlier posts, I was able to acquire the ID of an upper-classmate, who bore a striking resemblance to me, and this allowed me access to clubs a year earlier than when I should have technically been entering.

Anyways, this guy's name was Mike, and he was stationed at an Air Force base out in New Mexico. On any occasion that afforded him some extra time off, he would come to Dallas, primarily to go to the club. When I met him, he had three more months left in the Air Force until he had finally completed his term. He returned to Dallas upon leaving New Mexico, and we dated for a few more months after his return. Then I entered college and was surrounded by so many guys, who were closer to my age (if I recall correctly, he was 25-years-old), and he quickly fell to the wayside.

The ironic part of this entire story is that the guy with whom I actually attended this Curve concert was also in love with Toni Halliday, was also in the Air Force, was also stationed in New Mexico, and was also an acquaintance of Mike's... such a small, small world!!!

I'll include another one for you today called "Fait Accompli"...

Fireworks, blue and green
I can see what they sing
But you are away
You always smile
Boxing ring
The back of mules
You can really see, from the inside

Across the room
There's a horror in my head
When the blanket is gone
From the floor in my castle

Where I see the sun from
There's a horror in my head
When the blanket is gone
From the floor in my castle
Where I see the sun from

In the comfort of this room
The challenge died
Remember you and me
We laughed 'til we cried
