Week Sixty-One: Tears for Fears - "Change" - Tears Roll Down (Greatest Hits 82-92)

For Week Sixty-One, I am going to tell you about the three songs on my Tears For Fears VHS tape pictured below, and then I will select one or two other tunes by them to close out the week:

So, back when I was still in a band, we began to get invites to play in clubs located outside of the DFW metroplex. We frequently traveled to Austin, Houston, San Antonio, Tyler, etc. Those road trips could be long and boring; therefore, we came up with a game called Opposing Song Titles. The object of the game was to select two song titles that could be construed to have opposing meanings. Some examples that I can think of off the top of my head are as follows:

"High" (The Cure) / "Low" (Cracker)
"Don't Dream It's Over" (Crowded House) / "It's Over Now" (Cause & Effect)
"The Bottom Line" (Big Audio Dynamite) / "Room at the Top" (Adam Ant)
"Shame" (Depeche Mode) / "Pride (In the Name of Love)" (U2)

Okay, so you get the idea. One of the pairs that our lead singer came up with was "Change" (Tears For Fears) / "Don't Change" (INXS). It's actually a really fun game to play, especially if the contenders have widely varied musical tastes!!! I couldn't find the video for this on YouTube, and even though I own it on VHS, I do not have a digital converter.

You walked into the room, I just had to laugh
The face you wore was cool, you were a photograph
When it's all too late, it's all too late
I did not have the time, I did not have the nerve
To ask you how you feel, is this what you deserve
When it's all too late, it's all too late

Change, you can change…Change, you can change…

And something on your mind became a point of view
I lost your honesty, you lost the life in you
When it's all too late, it's all too late
We walk and talk in time, I walk and talk in two
Where does the end of me become the start of you
When it's all too late, it's all too late

Change, you can change…Change, you can change…

What has happened to the friend that I once knew, has he gone away?
When it's all too late, it's all too late

Change…Change, you can change…Change, you can change…
Change, you can change…Change, you can change…
Change, you can change…Change, you can change…
