Week Eighty-Seven: More Girl Groups - The Rev-lons - "After Last Night" - One Kiss Can Lead To Another: Girl Group Sounds, Lost And Found - CD 3

As we welcome in a New Year on Wednesday, I am more convinced than ever that I was born in the wrong era!!! I'm not at all excited about the scientific advances that 2014 will bring, nor am I impressed by our super-technologically obsessed society. My heart absolutely longs for what I view as a simpler and easier time! So I am going to use this week to cover more Girl Groups from roughly the 1960s or so because that genre of music is about as close as I'll ever get to where I would prefer to be!!!
`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`

Yikes! This is the first time that I have tried to locate something about a group on Wikipedia and have been unable to find anything about them at all. Luckily, www.last.fm came through for me and gave me a teensy little tidbit of info to share with you today --- sorry that it is very poorly written though:

"The Rev-lons were a trio 'Girls Group' from the 1960’s."

"They live in Bakersfield California. Members Frances Hernandez (Crane), Rachel Hernandez (Dela Rosa) & Lupe Hernandez (Gaona)."

"Gary Paxton was their producer, and he has released a CD with some of the old music previously recorded, some released and some not."

It looks like they have a Facebook page, as well, which provides a little more info. I enjoyed reading this particular post:

"Lead Singer of the Rev-Lons Rachel. that is me.Hi! Back in the late 1950's and early 60's was a wonderful time to grow up and be a teenager, we we were were so busy on weekends going to football games , sock hops at school in the gym after the games, summer dances, at the Armory, and Albert S. Goode Auditorium, dances sponsored by different car clubs all year long, and yes going to school with 2 -3 hours of homework every night, yes, I went to a private Catholic High School, Garces Memorial High School and of course elementary Our Lady of Guadalupe School where we kids learned to sing the Gregorian Chants, those nuns really knew how to discipline kids not with a stick or anything like that but with the help of parents and that look, ah! that look. There were about 40 kids per class and you could hear a pin drop while our teacher was teaching. Music was a very important part of my life then and still is. It was a time when you never told your parents you were bored, because they would quickly find some house work or or dad would find an area in the yard that needed weeds pulled. We didn't have enough time to get into too much trouble, we were too tired. By the way we were a family of 7 girls and 2 boys, What a time mom and dad must have had with all nine of us kids. Just little walk in time, more later as to how the Rev-lons came about."

I'll include another fun tune for you today called "I Can't Forget About You"...

Who would think that I would ever have a chance with him?
Everybody says he dates, just dates,
Doesn't want a girlfriend.
But after last night they just couldn't of been right about him.

They may think me strange for acting this way over him
They say it should have passed, can't last
Doesn't want a girlfriend.
But after last night they just couldn't of been right about him.

Oh, last night, he held me near
And whispered love words in my ear
And like a child, I closed my eyes and smiled
When he whispered, those things girls like to hear

Who would think that I would ever have a chance with him?
Everybody says he dates, just dates,
Doesn't want a girlfriend.
But after last night they just couldn't of been right about him.

They may think me strange for acting this way over him
They say it should have passed, can't last
Doesn't want a girlfriend.
But after last night they just couldn't of been right about him.
But after last night they just couldn't of been right about him.
But after last night they just couldn't of been right about him.
But after last night they just couldn't of been right about him.
