Week Eighty-Eight: iPod Picks - Part Trois - The Housemartins - "Happy Hour" - London 0 Hull 4

Surprisingly, my beloved and trusty little iPod has made it another six months, according to when I last allowed it to make the song selections, which was back in June of 2013. I did have to dump a few extra songs off of it, in order to get it back to a functioning level, but it still has over 4000 from which to select. So this week's picks will once again be made by my iPod while in *shuffle mode*

This is such a fun song to close out the week. My beloved and trusty little iPod did an excellent job when selecting this one. I hear it played on 1st Wave on Sirius quite frequently, but it's always a treat! The video is very incredibly entertaining, as well!!!

I know nothing about this band at all, so as usual, I'll let Wikipedia fill you in:

"'Happy Hour' is a 1986 single by British Indie rock band The Housemartins. It was the third single from the album London 0 Hull 4 and reached number three in the UK Singles Chart."

"The band's first big hit, it stayed on the singles chart for 13 weeks, peaking in the week of 28 June 1986. The song also enjoyed exposure on United States college radio."

"Rolling Stone noted that despite 'irrepressibly giddy music hooks', the song's 'sobering' lyrics 'hammer away at the hypocrisy and sexism of young British business types on the move.'"

It's happy hour again
I think I might be happy if I wasn't out with them
And they're happy it's a lovely place to be
Happy that the fire is real the barman is a she

Where the haircuts smile
And the meaning of style
Is a night out with the boss
Where you win or you lose
And it's them who choose
And if you don't win then you've lost

What a good place to be
Don't believe it
'Cause they speak a different language
And it's never really happened to me
{It's happy hour again}
Don't believe it
'Cause they speak a different language
And it's never really happened to me
{It's happy hour again}

It's another night out with the boss
Following in footsteps overgrown with moss
And they tell me that women grow on trees
And if you catch them right they will land upon their knees

Where they open all their wallets
And they close all their minds
And they love to buy you all a drink
And then we ask all the questions
And you take all your clothes off
And go back to the kitchen sink
