Week Ninety-Two: Double Takes - Big Audio Dynamite / Depeche Mode - "Rush" - The Globe / Songs of Faith and Devotion

This week, I will be covering songs, by different artists, that share the same title, better known by moi as "Double Takes".
(+)(-)(+)(-)(+)(-)(+)(-)(+)(-)(+)(-)(+)(-)

So I'll get this week started off right for you with a really fun and upbeat tune called "Rush" by Big Audio Dynamite. I will refrain from giving you too much info about this band because I intend to have a Big Audio Dynamite Week at some point in the future. However, if the lead singer looks familiar to you, it's because he is none other than Mick Jones from The Clash. Another tidbit of info that I will share is that the teen club, Xenon, that I used to frequent would play this one, and it is soooooooo much fun to dance to...just watch the video below if you don't believe me!!!

And since it's "Double Takes" Week, that means the other band that shares a song title with Big Audio Dynamite is a fabulous little group that you may know as Depeche Mode. Their song, "Rush", is definitely one of my top-ten faves by them, and I have been trying to figure out how to work it into my blog for awhile now. However, it never seemed to fit into any of the other posts I ever did about them...now I'm happy that I waited...what is that saying about "good things coming"?!?!? :-D

If I had my time again
I would do it all the same
And not change a single thing
Even when I was to blame
For the heartache and the pain
That I caused throughout my years
How I loved to be your man
Through the laughter and the tears

(Chorus)
Situation no win
Rush for a change of atmosphere
I cover the walls so I give in
Gotta get myself right out of here

Now I'm fully grown
And I know where it's at
Somehow I stay thin
While the other guys got fat
All the chances that I've blown
And the times that I've been down
I didn't get too high
Kept my feet on the ground

(Repeat Chorus)

(interlude) yes, it's delightful, delightful
"Rush for a change of atmosphere....."
.. I wish I could sing like that. Not everything is singing you know.
The only important thing these days, is rhythm and melody. Rhythm ...
And melody.
.. A time to laugh
A time to cry

And of all my friends
You've been the best to me
Soon will be the day
When I will pay you handsomely
Broken hearts are hard to mend
You know I've had my share
But life just carries on
Even when I'm not there

(Repeat chorus x2)

Gotta get myself right
Gotta get myself right
Gotta get myself right
Outta here
Gotta get myself right
Gotta get myself right
Gotta get myself right
Outta here

Walk with me
Open your sensitive mouth
And talk to me
Hold out your delicate hands
And feel me
Couldn't make any plans
To conceal me

Open your sensitive mouth
Hold out your delicate hands
With such a sensitive mouth
I'm easy to see through
When I come up
When I rush
I rush for you

Cry for you
Seen the tears
Roll down from my eyes for you
Heard my truth
Distorting to lies for you
Watched my love
Becoming a prize for you

Seen the tears in my eyes
Heard my truth turn to lies
Seen the tears in my eyes
I'm not proud of what I do
When I come up
When I rush
I rush for you

I come up to meet you
Up there somewhere
When I rush to greet you
My soul is bared

Gave more for you
Dropped my crutches
And crawled on the floor for you
Went looking behind every door for you
And because of the things
That I saw for you
I spiritually grew

When I come up
When I rush
I rush for you
