Week Three: Siouxsie & the Banshees - "Shadowtime" - Superstition

To me, the video for "Shadowtime" is one of the most visually appealing videos that I have ever seen.  To be perfectly honest, the song did not really strike me as anything special until I saw the video on the Twice Upon a Time: The Singles VHS tape that I purchased.

Then one day when I went into a gift shop at Six Flags (of all places), I saw a Siouxsie shirt that just so happened to be the cover to this single.  It was priced way beyond my budget, but I decided to splurge anyway.  It quickly became my favorite shirt because people were always asking if that was me on my shirt.  Let me tell you, folks, that it was incredibly flattering every time I got asked that question.

A few years ago, I turned all of my concert t-shirts into a quilt, and that is where my Siouxsie shirt now remains --- safely sewn into a quilt square --- joined together with all of my other prized music shirts that hold equally fond memories.

The voice asleep, the voice has vanished
from the top of the sky to the place below
touch the surface and the mirror bends
your words resound, out of control
freeze into time now

Still inside, yet doubt survives
it all begins, beneath the skin
No-one is near, no-one will hear
your changeling song take shape
in Shadowtime

Turn your wish to a vapour, the silhouette fades
eclipse your blue eyes, and the outline remains
from the house of the moon to the stars up above
amidst the comets, first sight of love

so begins the countdown

Falling sky, a solar sigh
it all begins, beneath the skin
No-one is near, no-one will hear
your changeling song takes shape
in Shadowtime

Shadowtime --

Catching fire, taking hold
all that glitters leaves you cold
No-one is near, no-one will hear
your changeling song take shape
in Shadowtime

Shadowtime --
