Week Three: Siouxsie & the Banshees - "Cities in Dust" - Tinderbox

I fell in love with SATB in the 7th grade when I saw the video for "Kiss Them For Me" on MTV's 120 Minutes.  That's right, kiddies, back when there were videos on MTV.  To me, Siouxsie was the epitome of a total bad-@$$, and I desperately wanted to be just like her.  Luckily for me, prior to the Superstition release, SATB had put out a plethora of other albums; so I had ample opportunities to get my SATB fix in small doses, especially since my only income at that time consisted of a meager allowance and babysitting funds.

Then one day, about a year after discovering the band, at a music chain store (at the mall, believe it or not), I happened upon a copy of Twice Upon a Time: The Singles on VHS, which is how I fell in love with both this song and the accompanying video.

Water was running, children were running
You were running out of time
Under the mountain, a golden fountain
Were you praying at the Lares shrine?

But ohh, oh your city lies in dust, my friend
Ohh, oh, your city lies in dust, my friend

We found you hiding, we found you lying
Choking on the dirt and sand
Your former glories and all the stories
Dragged and washed with eager hands

But ohh, oh your city lies in dust, my friend
Ohh, oh your city lies in dust, my friend
Your city lies in dust

Water was running, children were running
We found you hiding, we found you lying
Water was running, children were running
We found you hiding, we found you lying

Your city lies in dust, my friend
Ohh, oh, your city lies in dust, my friend

Hot and burning in your nostrils
Pouring down your gaping mouth
Your molten bodies, blanket of cinders
Caught in the throes

And ohh, oh, your city lies in dust, my friend
Ohh, oh, your city lies in dust, my friend
Ohh, oh, your city lies in dust, my friend
Ohh, oh, your city lies in dust, my friend
Your city lies in dust, my friend
Ohh, oh, your city lies in dust, my friend
Ohh, oh, your city
