Week Seventy-Nine: Sunday Songs - Blondie - "Sunday Girl" - Parallel Lines

I'm not sure if I have mentioned this or not, but I typically compose my posts for the entire week on Sunday, and then I update each daily post as events unfold in my life. I was having a bit of a difficult time coming up with a theme for this week; so since we technically got an extra hour on Sunday, 11/3, I figured I would do a Sunday celebration and cover songs that have Sunday in the title

S*U*N*D*A*Y*F*U*N*D*A*Y*S*U*N*D*A*Y*F*U*N*D*A*Y

Most recently, I heard this song in the opening scene for the Kristen Wiig, Matt Dillon, and Annette Bening film, Girl Most Likely. Sadly, this film got some of the worst reviews ever, but I beg to differ with the critics. I thought it was phenomenal, and I laughed so hard that I cried!!!

Without giving too much away, just in case you decide to treat yourself and watch it, Kristen Wiig's character, Imogene, has to resort to wearing some of her clothes from high school that she locates in her mother's basement. At one point in the film, you see her wearing a pair of steel-toe, red Doc Martens. I owned the exact same Doc Martens, and I even purchased them from the Doc Marten Factory when I was in London!!!

I will include the trailer for the film, but they actually use "Dreaming" in the trailer; so I will also include that Blondie hit for you today. Additionally, She & Him covered "Sunday Girl" on their latest release, Volume 3, and I will throw in that one for you, as well!!!

I know a girl from a lonely street,
cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.
Dry your eyes, Sunday girl.
Hey, I saw your guy with a different girl.
Looks like he's in another world.
Run and hide, Sunday girl.

Hurry up, hurry up and wait.
I stay away all week and still I wait.
I got the blues.
Please come see,
what your lovin means to me.

She can't catch up with the working crowd.
The weekend mood and she's feeling proud.
Live in dreams, Sunday girl.
"Baby, I would like to go out tonight".
"If I go with you my folks will get uptight".
Stay at home, Sunday girl. (uuuuuh)

Hey, I saw your guy with a different girl.
Looks like he's in another world.
Run and hide, Sunday girl.
When, I saw you again in the summer time,
if your love was as sweet as mine,
I could be Sunday's girl.

Hurry up, hurry up and wait.
I stay away all week and still I wait.
I got the blues.
Please come see,
what your lovin means to me.
Hurry up!
Hurry up, hurry up and wait.
I got the blues, please, please..
Please come see,
what you do to me.
I got the blues..

Hurry up!
Hurry up, hurry up and wait.
Hurry up!
Please come see,
what you do to me.
