Week Eighty: Electronic - "Disappointed" - Cool World Soundtrack

In honor of Johnny Marr passing through Dallas a few days ago and stopping by The Granada Theater - (I unfortunately did not make it out to the show), I figured that I would cover Electronic this week, as I promised you I eventually would...

A few of my ex-boyfriends had to learn the hard way that it is never wise to make a music bet against me...and I will share a little tale with you to support my statement, and this little tale happens to focus on today's song, "Disappointed".

So I was in one of my infamous three-month relationships - I seemed to have a whole string of those for a period of my life - and we were hanging out on a Friday at The Wall's retro night. "Disappointed" came pumping over the speakers, and my ex commented: "This is such a great Pet Shop Boys song..."

I chuckled a bit and responded: "Well, you're close, but it's actually Electronic..." Then he proceeded to ***gasp*** tell me that I had no idea what I was talking about. He even went and grabbed a few of his friends who assured me that it was, indeed, the Pet Shop Boys because it was definitely Neil Tennant singing. I concurred that it was Neil Tennant contributing vocals to a song by the band, Electronic.

We bickered back and forth about this, and I finally told him to put his money where his mouth was...therefore, we made a bet that the winner would receive $10 and a dinner at the restaurant of his or her choice.

As we entered his apartment that evening, I went straight to his CD collection, pulled out his copy of the Cool World Soundtrack, showed him that this track listing was by Electronic, told him that I wanted my $10 as two Fives, and told him that he could gladly treat me to La Madeleine whenever he felt ready...
