Week Seventy-Eight: Spooky Tunes - Part Deux - Bubblegum Rock Style - David Seville - "The Witch Doctor"

I had no knowledge of this until I saw YouTube comments and consulted Wikipedia, but it is the same David Seville (a "stage name"), who sings this song, that is responsible for creating Alvin and the Chipmunks.

I loved Alvin and the Chipmunks when I was growing up. It was one of the after-school cartoons that I simply could not miss!!!

Interestingly enough, I taught a set of triplets whose names were Allen, Eric, and Kevin. I used to tell them that they better be glad that I was never their mother because I would have made them dress up as Alvin, Simon, and Theodore every year for Halloween. They would always assure me that they would have loved for me to be their mother even if they had to run around as Chipmunks once a year!!! :-D

I will include both the original version of this song, as well as the version that is marketed as Alvin and the Chipmunks...

I told the witch doctor I was in love with you
I told the witch doctor you didn't love me too
And then the witch doctor, he told me what to do
He said that ....
[Chorus:]
Ooo eee, ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla, bing bang
Ooo eee, ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla, bing bang...
Ooo eee, ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla, bing bang
Ooo eee, ooo ah ah ting tang
Walla walla, bing bang
I told the witch doctor you didn't love me true
I told the witch doctor you didn't love me nice
And then the witch doctor, he game me this advice
He said to ...
[Chorus]
Now, you've been keeping love from me
Just like you were a miser
And I'll admit I wasn't very smart
So I went out and found myself
A guy that's so much wiser
And he taught me the way to win your heart
My friend the witch doctor, he taught me what to say
My friend the witch doctor, he taught me what to do
I know that you'll be mine when I say this to you
Oh, Baby ....
[Chorus]
