Week Fifty-Three: INXS - "Need You Tonight/Meditate" - Kick

Monday's & Tuesday's songs are from the INXS album, Kick, so I'm including some images of my copy of Flick on VHS, of course!!!

I made a special birthday blog post on Saturday if you didn't get a chance to check it out over the weekend!!!

Every once in a blue moon, my older brother would shock me with his musical selections. In the summer before fifth grade, my mother took us to Kmart and let us get a new cassette tape to listen to in the Suburban for our summer trip to South Padre Island. I selected Faith by George Michael, and my brother selected Kick by INXS. How he knew about this band, I will never even know. However, his INXS cassette definitely “kicked” my George Michael cassette's booty!

We stayed at a time share property that had cable TV, and I remember that the game show, Remote Control, was all the rave on MTV at the time. In addition, “Need You Tonight” was all the rave in regards to music videos, especially the version that went straight into "Meditate", which is what I selected from YouTube.

I have to say that I was devastated when I found out about the suicide of Michael Hutchence, especially the odd circumstances that surrounded it. He was one of my first childhood idols who passed away, but I will always appreciate him for not only this song, but especially for “Never Tear Us Apart”, included below the lyrics- oh, and his awesomely cool hair!!
