So, as I was browsing through my post history, I noticed that
I have been neglecting the ladies a bit on my blog... as a result, I
am dedicating Week Forty to Girls that Rock! - or female-fronted bands!!!

Been friends for so long
I've got a picture of you
hanging up on the wall
you say that you believe
that something's changing
that someone has come between you and me
a friend you'll always be
you know that I will never let you down
I'll tell you I could never hate you
[Chorus]
I could never hate you
I would never hate you
We may not always agree
and things don't happen
like they do on the silver screen
but I know your favorite things
your loves, your hates, your pet peeves
and everything in between
When things are up or down
no matter what goes wrong
I'll always be around
I'll tell you I could never hate you
[Chorus]
Watching movies all night long
or trading tapes that we made of our favorite songs
will you ever see just what you mean to me
and I will cherish these memories
When things are up or down
no matter what goes wrong
I'll always be around
I'll tell you I could never hate you
[Chorus]
It was actually an ex-boyfriend who turned me on to The Eyeliners. He attended college for awhile in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which is where the girls in the band lived. They had passed through Denton a few times when I was at UNT, but sadly, I never bothered to catch any of their shows. After I listened to a few of their albums, I really liked their style.
This same ex-boyfriend also wrote for a local music publication called Harder Beat. That meant that we were constantly going to see bands play live for the entire 3 years that I dated him, which is part of the reason that I stopped going to live shows for about a year after we broke up --- I couldn't take it anymore!!!
One of the shows that he dragged me to back in 2005 that I actually really enjoyed was seeing The Eyeliners open for The Aquabats at The Curtain Club in Dallas - [I've included a youtube clip for my favorite song by The Aquabats, "Look at Me (I'm a Winner)", below the lyrics].
