Week One Hundred and Thirteen: 'Til Tuesday - "Voices Carry" - Voices Carry

Sadly, I had to take my new vehicle in to the service department because my clutch was slipping. However, since it is still under warranty, Ford arranged for a rental car while it is being repaired. When I went to the Enterprise rental desk, the guy asked me how long they said they would have my car. I replied, "'Til Tuesday..." Then I smiled to myself and commented, "That was also a really good band!" He just gave me a blank stare and asked for my driver's license and insurance. For once in my life, it would be so awesome if someone would just know who these bands are/were and could comment back, "Yes, you are so right; that was a good band!!!" Alas, since "this world is full of crashing bores", as Morrissey so eloquently put it, I fear that I am asking too much of humankind!!!

Regardless, I started watching "Portlandia" on Netflix this past week. That show is completely hilarious. On one of the episodes, Aimee Mann, the lead singer of 'Til Tuesday, appears as a housekeeper. Since both Aimee and 'Til Tuesday popped up in my world over the course of this past week, I figured that it was time to cover her and her former band. Oh, and I almost forgot that I saw on Pollstar.com that Aimee Mann will be stopping by The Kessler Theater in Dallas in August.

In addition to the hit, "Voices Carry", I am also including another favorite called "Coming Up Close". Aimee also pursued a solo career in the early '90s, and one of my favorite songs off her debut solo album was called "I Should've Known"...that whole "dot, dot, dot" part is so catchy... and to celebrate this Friday's festivities, I am also including "4th of July"!
