Wowzer!!! I love the guitars in this song! In fact, this is my favorite Matthew Sweet tune. This is actually off his sixth album, Blue Sky on Mars. I never owned that album, but I had the CD single for this song. I also own his compilation disc, which has this song on it, as well.
When I was reading up about Matthew Sweet and Blue Sky on Mars on Wikipedia, I discovered some interesting facts:
"The cover of the album features an image by Viking 1, the first spacecraft to land on Mars; the album's liner notes include additional imagery of the planet's landscape as taken by the spacecraft on July 20, 1976. The text on the cover was done by fantastic artist, Roger Dean, best known for his work on album covers for bands such as Yes. The album's title comes from the 'Blue Sky on Mars' tour featured in the film, Total Recall."
I'll include a picture of the album cover so that you can see exactly what it is to which they are referring...
Instead of running
Stay and keep it coming
You're getting your kicks right at the source
You're taking your guidance from the force
But where do you get love
Down below or from somewhere above
Got a scary feeling I know
Where you get love
Am I the whore
You're working for
I'm here if you want to keep me near
much further away than I appear
Where do you get love
Down below or from somewhere above
Got a scary feeling I know
Where you get love
Instead of running
Stay and keep it coming
Stay and keep it coming
Stay and keep it coming
Where do you get love
Down below or from somewhere above
Got a scary feeling I know
Where do you get love
Where do you get love
Down below or from somewhere above
Got a scary feeling I know
Where do you get love
Where do you get love
